Said a wiskey flask to a cigaret, “I’d like to make a good-sized bet That I can get more scalps than you, Although your victims arn’t so few.” Said the cigaret to the wiskey flask, “Well, that’s as easy as I could ask, For I give kids their downward start, Then you pitch in and do your part. They come to you with a burning thirst, But I’m the fella that sees ’em first; So most of 'em should count for me, I’ll take the bet; it’s a cinch d’ see?” Then the wiskey flask came to say; “I never looked at the thing that way. But I confess you spoke the truth; ’Tis you that tackles the foolish youth— You fill their system with dopy smoke, I mound ’em into a first class soak. We work together far to well To quarrel for even a little spell.” So, the wiskey flask and the cigaret Shook hands together, called off the bet, And away they sauntered, side by side, hunting for victims far and wide. < !signature--> Writing isn't just something I do, it's something I am. To write of feelings that touch all hearts in some manner is my delight. -Marge Tindal [This message has been edited by lucky (edited 11-13-2000).] |

Bill, I'll give you and Marge a double bump for being on top of it. Yes, it's a very old poem from way before even your time. My mother sent it to us in a Mag. from 1914 and I thought to post it. Wasn't intending to steal. Sorry 'bout that... I should have said something. Good eyes my friend and good looking out. This work is listed Untitled... You guys are still really great. I still like to see who's who around here. Hats off, Bill & Marge. [This message has been edited by lucky (edited 11-15-2000).] |
