Crust of Moon Labor of another day Sunlight splashed room, Insistent, inevitable Like phases of the moon. Bring on the buzz Whirligig beetles in June. Lunar vanishing Sings a familiar tune. Questions crystallize In clouded mirrors of blue Transported from fog Waning does imbue. Voices of the ancients Whisper of taboo, But demands of the day Render thoughts untrue. Only when the starlight Catches the mind unaware Truly know the distance Between here and there. The face collapses No longer hiding despair. Lay awake for tomorrow Pretending not to care. © 2000 Corinne Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 09-23-2000).] |

Very nice to see another one of yours pop up. I love the way you ended this in it's final verse. The whole piece is superb in flow and presentation. Only when the starlight Catches the mind unaware Truly know the distance Between here and there. The face collapses No longer hiding despair. Lay awake for tomorrow Pretending not to care. |

Wow beautiful piece Corrine, I sense both great joy and sadness within the verse. Corinne~ I saved this one for this morning - The title is so intriguing - 'Lunar vanishing Sings a familiar tune.' What an interesting concept - 'Crust Of Moon' Something in it speaks to me. I'll have to figure out why. I so enjoy reading you. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Only when the starlight Catches the mind unaware Truly know the distance Between here and there. The face collapses No longer hiding despair. Lay awake for tomorrow Pretending not to care Corinne, I had reflections of days and nights passing in the phases of the moon, and the numerous thoughts that can sift through the soul. Very much enjoyed. Robert Joseph [This message has been edited by Robert Joseph (edited 10-16-2000).] |

Everyone (nearly) has copied your last verse - so I won't altho I could - You should know from this - the genius you exposed with it, and how many hearts and minds where you struck a familiar chord - myself included |

Corinne, Fabulous title. It's such a pleasure reading anything you post, every piece is so well written. I like this especially because of it's somber wistful undertones... just and overall wonderful piece. And I LOVE the last stanza. ~ Beth |
