Our forefathers had a saying - "As we have sown, we reap." Did you miss a fertile field as you traveled through your week? Did you lend a helping hand to someone in despair Or walk on by pretending to yourself they weren't there? Did you give a frazzled mom an hour of relief Or wonder why folks these days don't conform to your belief? Did you sleep in this weekend, relax, and skip Sunday school And yet expect your kids to understand the Golden Rule? Were you aggravated your grocery sacker couldn't read Or did you choose to teach him, help him, bring him up to speed? Did you gripe and moan all year or did, perhaps, you gloat About our politicians? Are you registered to vote? Did you go home lonely, tired, with just the TV set Passing by the nursing home? They've much to offer yet! Trapped in cages of our making, hoping problems will be solved We stay safe upon our treadmills, afraid to get involved. |

suthern, great message, especially with voting time coming up... I hope everyone realizes the difference a GROUP makes... some of us can't do it all alone...we need YOU! [no, I'm not a drill sargeant in disguise!] |

Suthern~ I could just hug your neck for this post ! HUG I can honestly answer that I did - I do - and I will ! Each of us needs to move outside of ourselves and give to others. If only people realized how much they get from those that receive a little of our time and hearts ... they'd give more. Thank you sweet, sweet lady. One heartfelt gesture at a time ... we CAN make a difference. Love ya' ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I loved this. There are some things to be pondered in here and taken very seriously. Some of them used to be good guidelines. I doubt there are very many who think of these things anymore. Nice work. My name isn't Baby, and I don't want to cyber. |

Sunshine (aka Sarge *G*): I agree! *G* Kit: Thank you! I know how great a compliment a second read is and I appreciate your time and interest. *S* SEA: I understand that! LOL. It would be SO much easier helping people register to vote if I could just program them with my preferences. LOL Marge: You're a dear... Sure, it's time away from our beloved poems... but maybe it gives our muse fuel! *G* Temptress: Thank you. I'm the world's worst at wrapping my loneliness about me and playing hermit instead of easing that of others. I appreciate all of your comments very much. It's easy to believe we can't make a difference.... but if we can make one day better for someone, isn't that making a difference? We don't have to work miracles, we just have to work. As for voting... DO SO!!! Preserve your right to .... (looking around for Nan and her eraser *G*) ... complain. (and now I'm polishing my halo for cleaning up my slogan *G*) |

Belle - A terrific commentary that makes us squirm. May I add a couple of lines? *innocent eyes* Did you promise to make my poem, The first one on the list? Did you tell old Balladeer, That he's only second best? Did you chase a mangy cat Into a real tall tree? Did you then blame Toerag, Instead of naming me? These questions are important For they favor me the most. Just answer them the way I like, Or you'll be in my next post. heh heh - now doesn't that make YOUR poem a lot better? Well howdy ho there Suthern. What a fine read... food for thought. As for me... my kids are my favorite charity, but then not everybody is as lucky as I. Hope there are many who read and take your message to heart.... And yes I think we should make LJA walk the plank. Nothing like a little excercise. Peace! You trying to make me feel guilty or something? *G* I applaud you on this Suthern! You hit home with this one! We complain about our politicans and yet we're not registared to vote. You're absolutely right when you say.. "Trapped in cages of our making, hoping problems will be solved We stay safe upon our treadmills, afraid to get involved. APPLAUSE, BRAVO! and HUGS too <*\\\>< I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. |

Seymour: Thank you for that kiss... May I return it? *G* jinxed: Thank you very much. I'm glad you consider it worth reading. *S* LJA: A tremendous improvement indeed... I bow to your expertise. *G* (fingers crossed behind back) Thank you! Local Rebel: You betcha! The fish won't like it but we'll shove him anyway! *G* Thank you... and the possibilities are endless! Andrew: You're right about being lucky... and about LJA! *G* Elizabeth, Poet deVine, and Martie: Thank you so much, dear ladies... both for your kind comments about the poem and your welcome to the poet. *S* I appreciate both very much. WhtDove: Making people feel guilty isn't my mission... but I question even my own complaints with "what are you doing about it?" *S* Thank you very much for that applause. *S* [This message has been edited by suthern (edited 09-29-2000).] |

I saw the line forming on this one and just had to come in to see what the "involved" was and I am glad I did. This is a wonderful message and the insight is uplifting. You penned it well. As for LJA, isn't there some place that we dump ocean waste that smells that bad. Anyone got a sea sponge and a few dozen bars of lye soap? |

Toe: I'm missing you bunches... does that count as being peachy? *G* I'm so glad you're okay and stopped by, sweet busy man... Heaven only knows why I write (literate or not *G*)... but I post because of you. *S* As always, thanks for the encouragement. Mark: I'm not sure even lye soap would help LJA... but it might be fun to watch him scream and holler and squirm away as we scrubbed (but maybe we could just send him through a car wash first... so none of us would have to go near? *G*) Thank you! |

My life would have been a lot less complicated if I had passed by a few more of those fertile fields Suthern, I miss you and the thoughts you always come up with. You are much better than you think...and WAY too good for Toe...but, as they say, a woman's love is like the morning dew. It would just as soon settle on a horse's ass as a rose Thank you for the poem...and for being here. |

Me too Bal.. Fields Suthern, nope I never miss a single one, nor the cow laying down, the sheep that fell down or the way the sun casts shadows like the tracks from a car or the way the sun is hungry to dry the soak filled ground and turn it into earie moody mornings... Yep, learning once again, nose on frosted glass once more, with every sun that rises evaluating loving nature giving life to moor... moor being wilderness.. though I know you, you dictionary lover...you already knew that... Love you [This message has been edited by RainbowGirl (edited 10-02-2000).] |

Well, Deer... I did say fertile fields, not fertilized. All that manure is sure to cause complications, especially if you adhere to LJA's shower schedule! LOL You didn't really think I'd let you get away with slandering my hero, now didja? *G* Rainbow: You've got another poem in that first paragraph... (though the talk of cows and sheep may be too much for LJA. *G*) Seriously... thank you both! *S* |
