state of confusion

Once, I saw you
In full glory,
it was a day in August,
our first meeting
at the edge
of the Pacific,
always called it
MY ocean,
having spent my years
next to her dangerous allure,
summer of ’76
I watched you dive
from the "Clam"
at La Jolla Cove,
said you were lucky
not to have broken
your fool neck.

My eyes did not miss
droplets of seawater
trickle, shimmering
iridescence,
a rainbow of scales,
and I wondered
as we lay idle
in hot sand -
sticking
in little clusters
at the ends of your
hair,
what it would be like
to love you?
I knew then
you were more alive
than I.

Don't think me obnoxious, but I identify with this SO much...

wonderful!

WHat alluring images here.  Nothing like a gorgeous man, dripping wet, hm? And La Jolla Cove is the most spectacular place, though it is the area of my recent broken heart.

Thank you, Denise!

Catalina, I grew up in Pacific Beach and La Jolla, have some wonderful memories of being a carefree beach girls.  I'll have to dig up an old poem called "Three Beach Girls" for you.  I'm sorry to hear that The Cove was the site of your recent broken heart.  I always found the sea to be so very healing.  But there are plenty of other places to go in San Diego to see the ocean!

I really enjoyed the second verse, as well.  Seemed to relay more to me, and I'm all about the relaying business.  Good write!

Thank you, Park.  Is that like, "you never write, you never call?"

Deer, you are such a dear!

Park,you're still my sweet.

Nan, Yes! It becomes part of you, a place where you escape (even if only in your mind)
it feels like life.
