If These Walls Could Talk

If these walls could talk,
I wonder what would they say?
Only the walls know the secrets
of the lives lived within them every day.
Would they tell of the risings
with every morning light,
or would they whisper of the
passions shared at night?

Would they speak of that horrid night
when you threw me into the wall,
or would they stand and laugh
at the way you stagger and fall?
Would they tell the world
of our little girls laughter,
or would they omit the the stories
of tragedies and disaster?

Would they speak of the battles
that within them had been fought,
or would they remind us
of the lessons that had been taught?
Would they speak of a good life,
or that of a living hell?
If these walls could talk,
I wonder what secrets that they would tell!

On the wings of words our spirits fly, and our souls are free.

maybe it's not the walls that should speak, but those that live within them. Only then can the sorrows and pain be released. A thinking poem you have penned.

Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox

Through the eyes of your work I think they
would also include the story of the amazing
poet that wrote these words...this is
excellent work~

Ron, those within the walls always need to do the speaking.  The past year for me was not the best of years, and this is one of those poems from that period.  I don't like to forget where I've been, but rather would remind myself of where I am never going again.  Thanks!

BDC, thank you for such kind words.  There was alot of thought put into this one on what was once a very
sad night.  Thank you.

On the wings of words our spirits fly, and our souls are free.
