"A Pitiful Imposter" 'Twas said by wisened soul that man forsake our nature's splendor reviled by all from whence we ever came the beauty of earth's solace and resplendent fertile flavor we tread the land, forgotten, from our shame and in that twinkling of His eye we fell and crawled through cold machines our feet no longer soft upon the loam what happened in man's heart to toss away into the nearing night this greening earthly heaven 'twas our home? ~ just pondering, wondering, wishing it weren't so. Kit, thank you very much. I was discussing the works of some of my favorite painters with a friend this morning and the subject of visionary art came up. We both agreed that it was a need to establish and maintain a bridge between the world of long ago, a more spiritual, elemental world into the spiritual world that can exist for us all, in which the cold, calculating, mechanical and often cruel existance that we know today can be overcome, or at least overstepped, as well as a collective lamentation over the destruction of so much of our natural surroundings and values, that brought the visionaries to paint so expressively. The need to shine the light on what our possibilities can still be, both personally and spiritually. Thanks so much for responding so kindly to this little piece of writing. Rainydays |

NO poetic reply to this one but I will share with you some of the thoughts that were conjured up in reading it for the 4th or 5th time. Many of the words and works of Kahlil Gibran found their way into my mind as I read this and then some of yours as well as I recall a satin shade and some moonlit walks in a night of reflection. You have penned a beauty in this one AGAIN and your message in this one is taken very much to heart. BTW...did you know that your works will all be going into my library? I cheated sort of and marked the box for the poet to be added to my library.....just in case I miss one or two. Now that just would not be acceptable now would it? |

I echo Mark's thoughts completely and agree with the point you're putting across (very well I might add) that man has ruined the earth with his technical mechanical consumption of natural resources. The Govt. of Brazil tried to rationalize the cutting down acres upon acres of the emerald belt ( Amazon Rain Forest) by instituting a system to use the exposed (raped) land as agricultural development for new and better crops. Well the topsoil that held the life of the Rain Forest was not very deep and within two years of growing crops it became useless as the nutrients that once vitalized the soil were gone....everything was working in it's place when mother nature was at the controls, but when man took over....well we see the evidence of it today as the Brazilian Govt. still allows strip cutting of the beautiful Rain Forest....and the beat goes on as big business and govts continue on in their paths of greed....the result....destruction of one of the most lush areas of natural growth on the planet.....just how long can it last??? ....great read!! |
