“DOWN BY THE RIVER” by Bill Charles ~~~~ Have you ever gone with him, down by the river, and lay on the grass together, because he is the one, you admire? With feet in the water, playing footsies and all, knowing it is only he, which you adore? Have you ever seen a graceful swan, as it swam by, reflecting off the lazy river, and into the clear blue sky? And when the swan came near, you gave it some bread, it knew all the contentment, of just being fed… Perhaps his fingers brushed, your hair with tenderness, and you sighed with delight, as they are his soft caresses… He kissed your neck, a most sensitive place, and all you wanted, is for him to hold you, in a tight embrace… Do you feel full of romance, by the river with him, and as you lay together, you kissed him on a whim? But one with the tenderness, of loves gentle caring, perhaps one that he would feel, and know it was daring… Does he know, have you told him about your dream, that you want to stay with, and love him, saying it with your eyes, as they gleam ? Hoping he responds, with you taking that special chance, that you’ll always be together, and he’ll make your heart dance? Down by the river, is a most wonderful place to begin, you and him, just two, and feelings deep within… It is also a magical place, just keeps on flowing by, reminding of loves song, never having to ask why… Flow you lazy river, flow down, and around the bend, taking with you, all of his troubles and cares, and wanting you, to be a friend… For knowing now for certain, and with no denial, loving him, is your yearning , as he is your passion, and only desire… ~~~~ |

Such a tender expression...your clear imagery makes this poem come to life, Bill. Thanks for the read! K The wind shifts like this: Like a human without illusions... This is how the wind shifts: Like a human, heavy and heavy, Who does not care. W.S |

Bill "Have you ever seen a graceful swan, as it swam by,reflecting off the lazy river, and into the clear blue sky? And when the swan came near, you gave it some bread,it knew all the contentment, of just being fed…" I love feeding the ducks and swans and being down by the water. You have captured all of the sweet things in life in your writing. Ariana |
