To reach the top, where could this lead
George Washington, was our first seed

The years were set, four was the term
Then came the time, to watch them squirm

It took some days, to tally votes
As big wigs waved, in swaggered coats

When all was said, and totals run
Our president, could have his fun

But that was then, and now is now
Our place has changed, like milk from cow

The buck sure helps, to reach that house
Where money talks, like one strong spouse

Just listen now, and you will hear
More promises, than you can bear

But please do vote, and do it well
It's still our choice, leave your clamshell

Hmm...seems like the voting this year was a throw back to olden times...thought this should be brought up again!

Poet Devine,

Thanks for noticing how the election seems to be playing out old history.  When I wrote it, I had no idea the first part would relate to today.  roger
