“running down the path”
by
bill charles

my friend and i were running down the path,
until I tripped over something, and being that the
path was near the river, i fell in but couldn’t swim,
and i went under and couldn’t breath, but that didn’t
bother me because i saw my friend jump in, and
as i was under the water he came after me,
and pulled me out of that river, and i was
so darn thankful, i went running with him again,
and then as we got further down the path,
we ran into people and bikes
and all that kind of stuff,
but we didn’t know what to do,
so we just went home…

when we got home we had to climb three
flights of stairs which was so hard to do,
because i scrapped my knee when
falling in that river, but there is another little
thing that was forgotten about that episode,
because while i was under that river i saw a duck
floating by overhead,
and not knowing where the bottom or the top
of that river was he saved my life,
but you might be wondering, because i said my friend
did that and he really did, but as i was trying to figure
up or down the duck came by,
but of course this duck could have been
swimming upside down,
and then i would have
started going the wrong way, that is down in the
river rather than up, and perhaps
my friend may have never found me,
and after you read this
you are probably wishing he hadn’t!

too funny, not the falling in part...I once was pushed into a deep pool fully dressed without knowing how to swim...I saw my life pass before me...a short one, but I will never forget it. The next week I took swimming lessons and eventually married a lifeguard....although he has left me to drown in abandonment recently.

Moral of the story? Who knows *S

It seems you almost drowned (in sorrow?) and was saved by a friend(love?) and wondered about a duck (visions of love, where to go with this relationship?) but still ran on (continuing, following your heart?)and eventually climbed a tree(taking love a level higher?) and now wondering again (insecurity, doubt?) well just my interpretation. Liked it Bill.

nakdthoughts - Had the same experience, but over turned in a canoe with my son. I came up, couldn't find him, but he finally surfaced. Some experience!

Sorry about the abandonment, hang in there, things will change for the better, as time always heals.

Ron K. Fox - A very good analysis of this writing of mine. I commend you for your insight.

Bill

Too funny -- I needed a laugh today and I am still grinning.

" i saw a duck floating by overhead, and not knowing where the bottom or the top of that river was he saved my life," - I love it!
