River of Dreams

Meandering river, a ribbon of grace
Kindly deliver my heart to that place
Voices are calling me, drawing me there
To places downriver, an island somewhere

Silver gray river, with moon sprinkled crest
Midnight forgiver of doubts I’ve possessed
With swift gentle strength, abundantly blessed
To carry me off on my heart’s golden quest

Meandering river, collector of streams
Serpentine giver of wishes and dreams
Steadily flowing life’s hours away
Carry me off to a place far away

Winding old river, So gently you flow
Blindly you slither to places below
Perhaps you can take me to Galveston bay
Perhaps he’ll forgive senseless words gone astray

Meandering river, of twinkling gleams
Serpentine giver of wonders and dreams

Reminded me of a Billy Joel song, and this flowed so beautifully, Elizabeth, every line but I believe my favorite is :Midnight "forgiver of doubts I’ve possessed", although it's hard to choose. The words were tightly fight together and the entire piece kept in  harmony with the title and the message. I truly enjoyed this one.

over the rain-green grass,
and the sun drips honey.""

Elizabeth - love it, just love it. I have a sensitive spot for a poem about a lazy ole river.

Elizabeth, this was wonderful... I loved the way it seemed to dance, and the way you described the river made it seem like I could see it.
