Colored with his Love

Sometimes the sun
pulls some kind of magic from the sky
and I can feel it nudge my skin
in a reverent way,
as if someone conspired
to let me see more clearly
how the water emits radiance
and sounds are sharply cut
from a song of continuance.

Today I saw this magic
in something far more finite,
something as fragile as a flower
and as strong as a caress,
I saw it in hands, dear hands,
beloved and torn on one delicate thumb,
hands that had traced the years
around the heart of my nurturing
and had felt the callus of life
tear into my skin with time.

Hands that desire the earth
and touch it like a woman,
hands that are strong enough
to crush the bones of rocks,
hands that hear beauty knock
and build it in the doorway
while I wait with who’s there
not yet spoken.

I could see so clearly
how for-granted colored the knuckles
and I felt great tenderness for nail ridge’s curl
and the slightly pink flesh
that fell into the heartland
of his palm.

If I could hold them now
cupped giants between my own
I would open them
and kiss the inside of my heart
for as I looked with this clarity
I saw it there as sure as a blink
and it was colored with his love.

Oh, Martie~

'If I could hold them now
cupped giants between my own
I would open them
and kiss the inside of my heart
for as I looked with this clarity
I saw it there as sure as a blink
and it was colored with his love.'

How precious are your thoughts.
I love the tenderness in this one.

Martie, take Marge's words, couple them with my own...

you are indeed loved, for that you can do this, and write thus, and know peace within...

and treasure every moment...

A special gift you possess fair lady. Wonderfully written and expressed, as you allow us to experience your life.

Same old perfection
Same old eloquence
Same old magical phrases
But there's nothing boring here
I still get the same old goosebumps when I read your poetry

Martie, this is pure tender and so loving, I really love this one. You just get better and better, I couldn't pick out one part of this that wasn't full of lifes beauty. It's all so wonderful, but I think that line

'and kiss the inside of my heart'

is so amazing.

Take care

Oh Martie, I read your poem twice, the second time out aloud, and right now I sit here with a warm feeling inside and a big smile, truly beautiful writing, beautiful thoughts.

Thanks for sharing them Martie
