There’s a story behind her sadness
Just another broken heart
She says in time she’ll be fine
But for now she’s very cautious
Says she has no love for giving
But I would surely love to give her mine.

My knees get weak and wobbly
Just about any time I see her
A sweat slowly breaks across my brow
And how I long to hold her
And say these few words to her
But Lord, I just don’t know how.

Let’s take a stroll through the garden
Let’s open up  the gate
Take a step in my direction
It’s not too late
Let’s take a walk down the road
Let’s tempt the hands of fate
Just run into my arms
It ‘s not too late.

We sit beneath the moonlight
Watch the stars as they’re falling
From the chair that sits upon her moonlit porch
And we’ve been friends forever
But lately now I’ve noticed
This spark I hold has become a raging torch.

As we sit and share our secrets
While I’m looking deep into her eyes
I can see all her sorrow and her pain
And to comfort her I hold her
And I so much want to tell her
But I just can never seem to find the way

She takes my hand in hers
As friends will do in comfort
And she notices how sweaty my palms have become
She rests her head up against me
Lord, she’s sure to hear my heartbeat
I have the urge to just get up and run

Then she says it in a soft voice
“Have you ever wondered
If things had  turned out a different way?
If we hadn’t met another?”
And I think my heart stopped beating
That’s when I just had to say…

Let’s take a stroll through the garden
Let’s open up  the gate
Take a step in my direction
It’s not too late
Let’s take a walk down the road
Let’s tempt the hands of fate
Just run into my arms
It’s not too late.

Beautiful Ron, simply beautiful..and I know this feeling, I love to lay my head close and listen to the beating heart...make sure you tell her, or you may miss the chance (if this is real) if not, well I don't know how anyone wouldn't love to hear the words and thoughts from you.

Ron.....
If this is real, she'd be crazy not to run into your arms!  This is truly beautiful, and I can see your heart in this one.....

Ahh, da man is making with the swoon technique in this one is he?  Superb write from you again and this one really rocks in more than one way, as I see many a woman's head bobbing in sheer delight in this one saying yes, yes, yes.

Ron, how touching a write this is

Ya know 'cautious' sometimes is good it can kinda be a healing process towards a next phase in life's journey... and time will also provide 'caution' an opportunity to disintegrate when the soul and heart are ready to share fully love's embrace

Thanks for a great read Ron

Ron,
First I want to thank you for this fantastic board.
And, second, I have to say how warm and loving this poem is.

I really like this one Ron ...there's many I know that are in the same situation and it's hard on the heart...you captured the moment here so well...wonderful setting...and if you ever want to create a challange on this board then ask everyone to explain how that love consumes the lovers without any rhyme or reason ..or so it seems....I personally believe there's still that love at first sight thing that knocks people right off their feet....I guess we are all connected somehow....loved it!!..ethome
