"Can't Sing Goodbye"

The days slip into sunsets
since your leaving came along
nothing written nothing said
I cannot sing this into song

I can sing about the wars
and about the pulling of the tides
and about the rotten way
that lovers make us cry
but I just can't bring
myself to sing goodbye

I can sing of wayward women
and of rakes and rowdy men
in all the songs I'm singing honey
I'm just trying to pretend
that you'll be right there
when I come home again

When the heart is pulled in two
you know it's got to be a crime
don't know how to keep on singing
without the other half of mine

...just a li'l song
Rainydays

Rainydays,
A nice read , but sad. Kinda reminds me of the jukebox in the corner and salty beer.

I can't imagine the pain of not having someone to come home to. Take care, Rainydays.

Doc, thanks for reading. Yes, definitely a beer and salty jukebox song.

Elizabeth, here's hoping you won't have to know it. Take care, and thanks for reading.

This song I will not allow myself to sing
As the loss of you leaves quite a sting
I will sing instead of memories so sweet
Taking my time in rhyme til in heaven we meet

The love for you will never find an end
I will not give in, nor try to pretend
My heart will forever hold you close at hand
As I refuse to sing to a loveless band.

A Whisper's Caress,  thank you. Yes, a sad song. Funny how sadness can so easily turn into music, isn't it?

Mark,  spoiling me again with another poetic response, and naturally it is uplifting and sweet. Thank you so much for this one.  (and every one)

ethome,  the music has been a bit rainy for me lately, but the sun's going to have to show up sooner or later.    Thanks for reading, I'm glad you liked it.

Butterflies Don't Cry,  thank you for such a sweet response. I was hoping the love would come out in this one.

Kethry, thank you very much, but you haven't heard me sing yet. (smiling)

Elizabeth, thanks for reading. Music, to me, is sometimes just the most fitting outlet for poetic thought.

Thanks everyone, and take care ~

Rainydays - I can relate to your writing. It is very difficult to sing about goodbye. But, may your heart sing.

RainyDays~

When the blues comes along
I just sing it
Belt it out loud and long
For melancholy best knows the chorus
of a heart without a song

And then -

Croon a tune that rains
with willow-weeping sigh
On the heart it will break
into a sad goodbye

Or-

Take a little sad song
give it a melody
Share it with another heart
who might sing it merrily

*Well .... thanks for these little inspirations !
