I'll Bet God Laughs When the first tear fell I wiped it away, I said "No", I won't cry today. When the second tear came and the third and more, I wiped my eyes and turned away, 'not again', I thought, I can't cry anymore. But down they came from stinging eyes, like rain they fell upon my hands; I brush them back, wipe my nose, and then I smile at a tiny thought… 'I'll bet God laughs when I peel onions.' w.james beard, jr. Sometimes I peel onions just so I can have a good cry and if anyone walks in on me I say the onions are the reason why. |

Hoot...yeah, I tried to keep the end a secret until...well, the end. I was cookin' up a pot of Red Beans and Rice, and while peelin' a really strong couple of onions, this came to mind, along with lots of tears... BDC - thanks, I haven't written much in jest, was hoping this worked... inot2B - never used them that way, could see lots of possiblities there though - Marsha - glad you got a chuckle, that was it's purpose in life, I hoped. |

I'm sure he does laugh...now, if you keep those onions in the frig...they won't bother near as much. Cute poem! |

God does indeed have a sense of humor... I don't cry when I peel onions... So it always ends up being my job... and I always smell like a big old onion for awhile... yuck!!!... |
