A Lover's Lullaby

Rock me in your lover’s nest
Cradle me with gentleness
Touch me with a sweet adore
Tenderly forevermore

Murmuring of heart in love
Is lullaby of mourning dove
Listen to the lyric’s hush
Spoken with a finger’s touch

Wrap your soul around me tight
And hear the music of the night
So great a song is ever sought
From ecstasy the hymn is wrought

Under midnight’s diamond sky
I hear contentment’s lullaby
It is a lover’s song of bliss
That chimes within a tender kiss

Elizabeth,
I hear the chime
I see the rhyme
And watch dear girl
The sands of time.

Elizabeth I have'nt been around for a while because I've been rather ill. But it's nice to see that when I do come back that you are still writing beautiful flowing poetry. I love the rhythum and the rhyme to this one.
"Wrap your soul around me tight
And hear the music of the night
So great a song is ever sought
From ecstasy the hymn is wrought."
Just excellent as usual and I'm glad to be able to read some of your heartwarming work again......take care...ethome

When I go to bed I plan on requesting a lullaby. It better NOT put me to sleep.
Beautiful Poem

That you could so perfectly pack - such an incredible summation of all that makes a perfect kiss perfect into so few verses -
convinces me you are a true poet's poet.
You've defined it, distilled it and described it so very beautifully.

Paula, Thank you. Keep humming

Sunshine, "Music of the Night", one of my favorites. Thanks

Sy, you should never watch an hourglass, just enjoy the time. Thanks for reading

ethome, it is so great to have you back on the forum. Thank you for your kind remarks

Inot2B, Please try to stay awake. You wouldn't want to miss the lullaby

Bill, A great compliment from "the romantic poet" THanks
