Little Boy’s Fear
Every little boy has many a fear,
And the following tale is mine.
‘Twas long ago on a dark Hallow’s eve
When the moon didn’t shine.

After school I walked alone
And stopped to play in the park
Just as you would suppose,
I played until it was dark.

As I started home, I realized
I’m in trouble, but it’s no surprise.
My mom would worry, dad would yell
I had think of a story, a convincing one to tell

But, They’ll understand
They’re cool, they’re in touch
They’ve always said, that
I play just far too much

I’ll say the teacher ask me stay
I’ve done this thing before.
I know they’ll believe me
When I come through the door

But still I’ll hurry home
Just in case they call the school
The teacher may not back me up
And once again, I’ll look the fool.

So, I took a short cut
Through the old cemetery
I took a little chance
Although it was scary.

With the very first step in
I knew I was in trouble
I heard a noise behind me
I began to run on the double

I couldn’t see this horrible thing
That was following close behind.
But I knew I better not slow down
Cause it couldn’t be very kind.

I tried to outrun the darned old thing
But it seemed to run at breakneck speed
I prayed that if I could get away
All my father’s warnings I’d take heed.

Now finally I reach the gate
I was safe out on the street
I beat this thing, sat on the curb
To catch my breath and rub my feet

But when I opened my eyes
I literally S***
The Thing was my dad all along
He touched me and said, “Tag, you’re it.”

You know I think we all wonder what it would be like to walk through a cemetery at night!  Good one for tonight!
