The Feast of Samhain Darkness falls swiftly As the day comes to an end; The last golden rays of sunlight Drift away on an autumn wind. One by one the silvery glow Of a thousand stars shining bright Appears in the heavens up above, Piercing the blackness of the night. A silent whisper of times gone past Rides upon the soft, cool breeze; The veil between worlds is lifted once again, And magic roams the earth, wild and free. The moon rises slowly in the sky, Washing the land in its silver gleam; Crowds begin to gather in the splendor of the night To celebrate the Feast of Samhain. The bounty of the harvest is shared by all As the year once more comes to an end; A communion with loved ones, both living and gone, In the anticipation of a new year to begin. Like the beauty of a Celtic Peace Knot, This ancient tradition of gathering with the clan Serves to remind us of a universal truth As old as the very nature of man. Your friends, your family, are with you Wherever you may roam, For you carry them within your heart; You are never truly alone. ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Terry: Very lyrical, very inspiring! "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind!"...Dr. Seuss |

Toddles~ Thank you, my friend. You guys should have known that I can't let a Celtic holiday pass without opening the case where I had temporarily locked away my poet's pen and weaving a little rhyme about it. After all -- what else can a Celtic bard do? Love Ya~ ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Woodson, Jr. |

TerryW~ You've woven a beaut of a tale for the telling of this time-honored Celtic celebration. By way of explantation for others - On Samhain (October 31-November 1st) the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. It is a powerful time for divination and contacting those who have walked these lands before us. The Samhain Feast is spent enjoying the harvest of the year and celebrating the coming of the new year. 'May the land spirits bless us in this new year.' I wish you a Happy New Year, my friend. Thanks for sharing this glimpse of this Celtic celebration. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

I just got too caught up in work and school (we just finished midterms - whew!) to even breathe lately. But I had to take a little break, and rejoin my friends here at my second home, even if just for a little while. Thank you for your kind words -- you always have a way of making me blush. Thank you for your compliments -- I treasure every one of them, my friend! Love YA~ JanetMarie~ What can I say, dear? I have really missed you, my sweet *winkie~wink*! I am glad that you enjoyed this one. But really, I'm not that good, am I ? (Don't answer that -- I know what you sweet poets and poetesses will say, and I don't want it going to my head! ) It feels wonderful knowing that I have you guys as friends. I love every one of you!
