I hovered about
thirty to fifty feet above what

appeared to to an accident it’s as clear
today as the day it happened fourteen years
ago I can’t forget the day you see it was so
unbearably hot the sixth day of June a
day that would later become the
most memorable day of
my years to follow

it was clear
though the
young man
had been run
from the road by
an oncoming vehicle
but oddly enough the actual
collision took place many feet from

the boulevard as though the man had been
chased from the highway and into yards of tall
grass I saw the aid vehicles and fire trucks
it was quite a spectacle as it happened
bordering four separate counties
even the media had shown
up it came to be that
the couple in the
other vehicle
were fine and
had told the police
that the man must of been
drunk to run them off the road that

way the broken man lying on the ground
made an attempt to speak but his voice was
barely audible so muddled they were sure
he had been drinking subsequently one
of the patrolmen became so irritated
he hit him a number of times
with his billy club the
media got it on
film howbeit
the evening
headlines read
of how another drunk

driver had been removed from the
highways and may even be dead but what
they never did tell was how the man was taken to a
nearby rich folks hospital and after a few X-rays & blood
test come to find the man had never been drinking at all and
the garbled voice was because of multiple ribs that had been
broken and a collapsed lung and they were very sorry but
he would have to be treated somewhere else because
of financial reason and they needed to do it in a
hurry as he was sure to die of pneumonia
and could maybe live thirty minutes
or so nor did the media follow
up on how the policeman
that beat him with his
club hurried to the
hospital early the
first light of dawn
while the man was
still under the influence
of Demerol and anesthesia told

him if he signed some papers he wouldn’t
have to go to jail which he unfortunately but
did unconsciously sign and only I can tell
you this story... you see... I was the
one that hovered from above

watching.

Dale--what a chilling story...it is so easy to read somthing wrong and assume something that isn't true...great writing, my friend...and killer ending!

this is a very powerful tale. I enjoyed it, the ending was bold.

Martie,
What a chilling story it was too and true... I remember calling Rj and telling her... and I'm glad the ending wasn't killer!

Irish Rose,
It surely was powerful but by no means a tale.

You retell this tale well, as the one wronged. Captivated me. How many things go like this unnoticed or covered up? It would make us all shudder.

Mr. Fox,
How many things do go like this unnoticed or covered up? I would never have thought this could happen to any of us. Rj had been after me to write of it, but what can any say? It's been almost 17 years now... and there's much more of the tale you'd never believe. The owner of the car file a court action for the expense of his car two years after the accident wanting me to buy him a new car. It was a good thing my lawyer caught it. People are strange. If they can't kill you, they'll sue you for your life instead. Today is all and well thank God...

Yes, lucky was the one wronged in this case, and it still makes me shudder.  I nearly lost him for the rest of my earthly life, due to the driver who, under the influence of heroin, ran him off the road.  Lucky's protesting, in agony, shock and hysteria, resulted in the policeman beating him in rage.  And that "human being" did manage to get himself out of it just like that.

Sometimes this world is so unfair.  Good thing Heaven isn't.  No tears there.

The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G.

Lucky~
And I would dare say Lucky would have been
a good name to have on that awful day.
What an intimate story you've shared in
your usual brilliant fashion.

Just remember that somewhere there sits three other people who
also remember their acts and deeds on that day.
May it dwell with them in haunting fashion for all of their days !

I thank God for sparing your life.

RJ,
I can never thank you enough for your prayers... Withfive broken ribs a collapsed lung, heart intrusion, broken hip and foot... you know I wanted to die because of the pain.  Glad for those prayers... mush love dale

Marge,
I have often thought to get back at them somehow... and I think I'd like them to find this and realize... But really, the only thing I can say is "I'm glad I'm not in God's shoes to judge those" thanks for such words... So glad he spared me...

much love all, dale
