Winds of a Stranger

From birth, the seasons dressed
your soul in their color -- your breath
schooled in the cycles of the moon.

Your eyes, they followed the winds
of a stranger.
Unseen, yet known -- he lived at
the height of your dreams --
his hope ever burning within you.

Though the lanes he sailed were
laden in clouds of jaded behavior --
his heart's core remained true to
the divinity of its birth.

Crashing his sail upon the craggy
stone of desperate islands --
blistering eyes searching through
needling rains -- your beacon's
light grew stronger.

Tested by the harsh storms of a
scoundrel's evil hand -- your lamp
never lost track.
Your hope of the stranger never died.

Hope - it can be such a tormenting/ed word can't it?

I loved this, thanks for the read.

Robert, I agree with Kari, this is hauntingly lovely. I really like this, I think it's beautiful. As for hope there is always hope, for without it, life would be very sad.

If I ever write my book I may want your poem to be on the inside jacket of it...it is my story...I am saving it in my library and will take your info down..I do believe it is near perfect!!!!

Back for my periodical read...this still speaks so mightily to me...it's still as relevant to me, robert, as the day I first read this. Eternally stuck in my library...I'm afraid I will likely pull this to the top of the archives year after year...

you know - I miss your writing around here..
