1,735 Miles

Crossing half the homeland
passage of renewed chances
carriage of care-worn cargo,
pictures of vast expanses.

Flat of fields, rise of hills
flurries warn of coming storms
climbing heaven’s guardians
shawl of white, trees transform.

More to this journey than miles,
show of diamonds in the night
surreal the canvas before us
cast by the lone headlight.

Road closed, one mile ahead
spooned, we sleep together,
turning to inner embraces
undaunted by the weather.

Morning arrives, glacial bright
silent and soft the quilting
though awake, we remain
of one mind, dreaming.

This is a gem, and a real nice read

Through the cold, the harhness, the dead ends in life, just the dream of being together brightens it all. That's what i get from this.
