Just two houses down from me, I can't believe...how could it be... A child being hurt there every night. Terrible things they say were done to a child the age of my own son... A soul too small to even put up a fight. ~~~~ I waved at them each time I passed, father out there mowing the grass... Mother planting flowers in the sunshine. A welcome wreath on their front door, the perfect family for sure... Lord, how could I have ever been so blind. ~~~~ The sirens woke me up that night, I never shall forget the sight... Of that lifeless body carried across the lawn. I was questioned the next day and so ashamed I was to say.. I did not know anything was going on. Then I saw them on the news being charged with child abuse and saying it was only discipline. A tragedy the lawyers claimed, but an accident, just the same... They were careful to never use his name. ~~~~ His name was Tim... A little boy just three years old, eyes of blue and heart of gold... Laughter that was music to the heart. An angel sent from up above who only ever wanted love... Yet suffered pain right from the very start. His eyes no longer filled with tears. His soul no longer filled with fear. His laughter now falling upon the angels' ears... |

So very heart-wrenching, TA. You've done a great job here telling a story that a lot more people should hear, and do something about. Good work! sp Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier |
