I watch you now as you lay sleeping
Your face innocent as a child
Not worn with care or twisted in pain
And I am taken back
To a happier, better time
When I could make them disappear
But not today
Today your hurts are inside, locked away
No power I have can heal them now
Just for this instant, this moment in time
(Which I would freeze forever if I could)
I'll touch your hair with tender care
And pretend, just once again
Mommy can kiss the pain away

This is beautiful, peppermint!  I'm not a mother, but I do know how it is when there is nothing I can do to help a friend who is hurting.  Great write!

As a parent myself, I can tell you, there are so many times that I wish it were as simple as just a kiss to make things feel better for them.  Too bad it isn't and yes, helpless about covers it.  Very wonderful write from you.

P35~ this is sad and I can relate to the feelings, being a protector in nature, I want to make it better, it's really hard knowing there are some pains I can't protect my kids from. Excellent write.   -SEA

Thank you Mark, Kathleen, SEA and Marcy...it helped me try to come to terms with it when I wrote it....it's not really all better, but there is, at least, some new hope... but then, to me, there is always hope!!!

Peppermint, Oh this is so true, not that it stops when they are all grown up and flown the nest. I think this is beautifully written, I remember this feeling, Oh yes indeed I do. Love this one, well done
Take care
