What if I had been there that night? If I could have stopped the accident, I surely would. If I could have stood in front of that oncoming truck, I’d take the pain, the blackness, the nevermore. In that split second, what did he think of? What flashed before his eyes? I’d take the cold of the earth, The solitude buried with me. I’d gladly wear his shoes, Sleep in his resting place. Without a moments thought, I’d trade places. Just to see him again. I held his hand when he was small. Ruffled his hair. Teased him, wrestled him. Seen him cry, Enjoyed his laugh. Always loved him. And still miss him. I tied his shoes. Carried him. I placed a flower on his grave. I chose his resting-place. Beneath a big majestic Oak. I still protect him, Watch over him. I am my brother’s keeper |

So sorry for your loss..I know how you must feel as I lost a sister when she was a child..its very hard to see someone you love suffer.. we suffer the painful loss afterwards..take care ~Victoria~ A poem is never finished, only abandoned. - Paul Valery (1871-1945) |

so painful to read. My heart hurts with yours at this moment, God bless you & extend mercy. To trade places with him says it all. Wow. Beautifully written. Marcy |
