It is so difficult to believe,
That such a tranquil, green garden scene,
Harbours an event that makes one heave;
Such is the incident that has been.

Most tame amongst God’s creatures,
You came to a most foul, gruesome end.
Elegance, style, grace were your feature:
Upon the amusement you gave, I’d depend.

So gentle and pleasant to the eye,
Your exceptional tones of fawns and cream.
To consider you now makes me cry.
If only that night could be a bad dream.

Measured on a balancing scale,
The pleasure you brought verse trouble,
It’s the joy you gave that will always assail;
It’s not having you around that's the trouble.

I remember, when the rain would come down,
In excitement, you were driven to excessively puddle.
The lawn soon disappeared: I did frown,
But still you were never too much trouble.
