Listening to every heart

Amethyst Skies

calm, calm, the twilight rapture
lo this peacefulness, if not captured
in this, thy soul of even tide
go alone you, on a magic carpet ride

amethyst, a most lovely word
strength of color, its whisper heard
to embark toward its light of nether-end
makes one want to come back again

and whisper amethyst as a soft caress ~
can one receive an amethyst kiss?
does one own a pair of amethyst eyes?
or just share visions of amethyst skies?

as amethyst darkens in twilight's hue
springs forth a diamond of star, brand new
just the one, sits 'tween dusk and light
giving great promise to thee, long night

amethyst skies are fleeting, almost gone
and yet thy color's memory lives on
so somewhere across these amethyst skies
thy stars reflect a lover's eyes

so linger not, nay tarry none
as amethyst darkens over setting sun.

Karilea~
This is as absolutely stunning as the
amethyst sky of this evening's sunset.

You captured the beauty perfectly.
What a lovely, lovely render.

Beautiful, my favorite time, watching the amethyst skies, as the moon gradually appears. This is so lyrical.

Absolute beauty! Have you noticed how God uses the color? I think it's one of His favorites too. He splashes it everywhere, sunsets, sunrises, rainbows, clouds, hidden in rocks. I love this poem, makes me smile it's my birthstone.   Love, Marcy

What a beautiful picture of a sunset, Karilea. I think that 'enchanting' would be a good way to describe this poem. Lovely work.

scanning poems today - I came back and reread this - and was shocked to discover I hadn't responded to it already - It is one of the very best I've seen under your name. and btw - I share your feeling about both the color and the word - I shall have to try whispering it aloud at an appropriate time - I suspect you're correct about its greater magic
