If I took a craftsman's trade
I'd give you all the things I made.
A gold and silver heart-shaped box
with filigree and many locks.

If I were one to ride the sea
the ocean vast I'd sail with glee.
Tall waves I'd brave, quick shifting tide
until I had you by my side

As builder I would shape the land
then raise to you a castle grand.
Good solid stone, I'd make it last
and it would stand though ages past.

A blacksmith's hammer might I weild
to strike the steel and make it yield.
Forging chains of love so tight
I'd draw you close with all my might

With tailor's skill I'd stitch and mend
while others only while and wend.
For you the finest dress I'll make
in hopes your love for me I'd wake

If music was my talent true,
fine songs could I then write for you.
Notes and chords to make you sing,
your ears, sweet harmony I'd bring

If wood I worked, I'd craft my best
and make for you the finest chest,
where I could lock away your heart
and keep it safe while we're apart

Of these fine things I can do none
a humble poet, I am undone.
I work in words, I write in rhyme,
cast in meter, form and time,

I choose these words with greatest care
in hopes you'll be my lady fair.
I've only these to sway your heart
and keep you near lest you depart.

GreyMouser~
This is wonderful.
You've worked your craft well.

Jack of all trades -
Master of rhyme
Handcrafted beauties
to withstand the test of time

A wordsmith you are
and shall remain
With poetic thoughts
a heart you shall claim

*I really enjoyed this.

GreyMouser, how could your fair maiden withstand such an eloquent plea? This is luxuriant in its imagery, sincere in its message and must surely be written with the ink of your heart. Lovely.

Thank you!
