It started with a fireball,
Then came the 911 calls.
As their emergency sirens screamed,
Men and women rushed to the scene.

Then they saw the horrible sight,
There were injured people left and right.
The injured came one after another,
As the rescuers wondered how many others.

Then came what everyone had dread,
The discovery of the dead.
As the dug in the rumble,
The building continued to crumble.

Many rescuers risked their lives that day,
In several different ways.
They searched the building day and night,
Constantly seeing the horrible sight.

As the death toll began to climb,
Survivors the rescuers hoped to find.
From the start of that day,
The world began to pray.

In the hearts of all they hoped,
That the rescuers could continue to cope.
Many are still struggling today,
As they recall that horrible day.

To the rescuers I hope they find,
They are still on Americans minds.
So I send this poems to you today,
In hopes it may help in some way.

This poems is in honor of all the rescuers of
the Oklahoma City Bombing.(copy of this poem
was sent to the fire department of Oklahoma City)

Cathy~
This is simply a wonderful tribute and reminder of that awful day.

How kind of you to remember the heroes that will never forget
the carnage they had to face that day.

This is such a great tribute, Cathy, and a subject that should not be forgotten by any of us. That disaster touched us all, and brought us together in tragedy. You wrote this with your heart, and it shows!
