When asked who we poets are, what we feel I wrote this as my response. After looking at it over and over I realized this is so much me. so here it is. --- Let Me Be --- We are not just poets, Our feelings are real. We have all the heartaches That everyone feels. What do I tell you Where do I start. What do I feel in The depths of my heart? I'm just a man like Most men you see. I want to love someone Who will also love me. I want to live life With the people I've met To float on the lake And watch the sun set. But the center of life The core of my world Is that ponytailed angel My sweet little girl. It's like it has been My whole sad life long I've lived out the words Of Clapton's sad song "When I walk, stay behind; Don't get close to me, 'Cause it's sure to end in tears, So just let me be." < !signature--> Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?" [This message has been edited by The Lonely Stranger (edited 10-21-2000).] |

Oh man...I did not want to start my day in tears but thats exactly what you have done...I'm just a man like Most men you see. I want to love someone Who will also love me. This passage just aches...and this one...But the center of life The core of my world Is that ponytailed angel My sweet little girl...this one just sings to me, telling me what a special man you truly are. |
