Before the darkness
Took my sight,
I was staring at
Your face.
Now, I see nothing
But this beautiful vision,
Forever engraved
In my mind.
I wouldn't have it
Any other way;
You are my only inspiration.
I can't look to anyone else
For true encouragement.
Each day I live,
I am compelled
To deal with the difficulties
Of this existence.
Only when I look
Into my heart
And see your face,
The trials of life
Don't seem as severe
As they had before.
The glow of your countenance
Is all I need to survive.

Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier

snowpants, snowpants, snowpants, snowpants, snowpants,
To best sum up this is just so powerfully written it sends me in a spin.

The trials of life
Don't seem as severe
As they had before.
The glow of your countenance
Is all I need to survive.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

Something a little different from you, and I like it!
A very strong undercurrent in this one.
Great free verse!
