As I lie here, Night after night, Trying to put this lonely heart To rest, When I close my eyes, All I can see Are images of you, Dancing across my mind, Journeying into my dreams. How could you be gone? It can't be real That I loved you For such a short time. I keep wondering how it would be Had you not gone away; Imagining life standing beside you. I'd be by your side forever, you know. I'd give you the rest of my life, Had you stayed and not left me alone To deal with this pain, Having only The memory of your face, A faint remembrance Of your gentle touch. I know just what I need, My Precious One, And I'm not sure How I'm going to cope If I must keep seeing these Images of you in the dark. Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier |

SnowPants~ A soft remember comes to light the night - 'Having only The memory of your face, A faint remembrance Of your gentle touch.' Lovely thoughts are these. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
