I am the wolf, a loner at heart... You are the human, and will rarely if ever see me... I roam the wilderness forests and mountains of this earth that we share... I mate for survival, as you do... and I help my mate raise our pups in the warmth of our den, nurturing and watching them grow and play, as you do with your human young... We run as a pack family... and our members are as close as those in yours... When a member is lost, we greive, but go on... just as you do... When I am hungry, I must hunt for myself and my family, for that is all I know... There are no stores to cater to my every need... Some of you have said that I am a killer... a cold-blooded hunter of death... But when I kill, it is to feed my family, and I only take the old, sick, and weak, who will die regardless... I don’t kill to hang heads for trophies on my walls, as you do... Now I am the hunted...By you... You are afraid of me, because you don’t understand me... You think I am taking from your herds of plenty, which you advertise for tourist dollars... Yes, you are afraid of me, but I can’t hurt you... You are the one with the power to destroy my kind... You set your traps to torture me, and send your helicopters, to kill me from the air... I cannot fight you, for that is not my way...that is yours…... I only want my freedom... to run, live, and sing to the moon... I will share this earth with you in peace...as long as you let me... I am the Wolf... Follow your dream! |

Hey lil sis, this is a wonderfully well written piece. So loud cheering can break out now, and take your bow, (Oy! listen to your sister girl, I'm older, and if you don't, I'll not tell you any juicy tales later) It's okay you guys you wouldn't want to know, it's about ' the poisen dwarf' Sunny it's really juicy. I'll tell you tomorrow. So are you bowing and being gracious, good. Take care Bubbles |

Hi Sunny, I am having one of those days, I would have sworn I already replied to this poem. LOL Anyway, I love it, great work, and I can feel a little bit of anger behind it. I'm with you on that. Sandra |

Ahhhh now ya gone and done it. Ya found one of my weaknesses in that I love all of nature and I can't help but get emotional over a piece like this. I love the wolf and know all to well of it's story(especially the gray wolf) and you my dear have penned beauty worthy of much time read. Library time... |

Sunny1~ This is a really, really GOOD piece of writing. Thank you for the wisdom of your thoughts. I am part of a wildlife group that works hard to save these creatures from the worst predator known - MANKIND ! Tenderly done, dear poet friend. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Fantastic writing, Sunny1. From now on, whenever anyone refers to me as a wolf, I will hold my head up with pride! You did a masterful job with this one, poet! |

~~~ Sunshine ~~~ Thank you, my friend.......am glad that you came by to read this....it meant a lot! ~~~ Marsha ~~~ No bows necessary....I just love nature!! And how do you know that you're older? ~~~ passing shadows ~~~ Yes, thank you......I've never seen one in real life, but I have studied them in great depth and understand them a little better. ~~~ catalinamoon ~~~ Yes, I guess I do have some anger about what we are doing here, trying to extinguish this animal for greed's sake, at least in this state. But I thank you for reading this...the more who read, the more who will know the truth! Follow your dream! |
~~~ Mark ~~~ Oh, what a wonderful gif!!!! I stole it!!! And I thank you for what you said. Somehow I knew that you would be on the side of the wolf......... ~~~ Marge ~~~ I applaud you......the animal rights groups DO work extremely hard, and they have to fight big money and stupidity at every turn. I could write volumes about what goes on up here in Alaska!! Thank you, my friend!! ~~~ Balladeer ~~~ Yes.....hold your head up very high, as a wolf is a very proud and noble animal. From your picture, I can almost see that wolfish gleam of wisdom in your eyes! Thank you for reading my thoughts here!!! ~~~ Butterflies ~~~ Thank you for seeing that this meant so much to me. I appreciate your insight, and also the fact that you liked my picture!! Follow your dream! |

Hiya sis, trust me kid I'm older, you're probably older than the baby sis but, the really dippy one, but younger than Marcelle, (and much nicer too, but tell her I told you so!) Anyway boosting this back to the top so lots more can see it. I promise that I'll E you today, it'll be late, but I will. Take care Look after yourself up there Bubbles |

Sunny- wow! i don't know how this one snuck past me, but i'm sure glad i found it today. This is wonderful!! i have a soft spot in my heart for all animals, so this struck a chord with me. Beautifully done, my friend. -vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truely met the poet." -vlraynes |

Thank you Vicky!! I'm glad you got a chance to read this, especially since you like animals. This subject is a personal crusade of mine, after living in Alaska. We're voting on measures to let hunters hunt them down from the air, and also use traps. It is sickening, and it's all for money. The human race never ceases to amaze me! Follow your dream! |

~~~ Nathan ~~~ thank you for your reply, and yes....I do care very deeply about the creatures we share this earth with. I don't think that we have a right to destroy them. And if we do that, we will suffer, along with generations following us. Thank you for reading this! Follow your dream! |
Brought one out of the dust jacket..thanks..thought I had forgot it...here's on for you...thank you for yours. Ron Shafts of moonlight pierce the forest canopy. Like needles thrust through a cloth. A ghostly gray shadow moves gingerly Between light and darkness, Its eyes always searching, Ears forever attentive. Deciphering the scents and sounds, It waits for a sign from the night. A sniff of the cool autumn air Will tell it all it needs to know. Without a sound it leaves the embrace of the forest And moves into the open space beneath a starlit sky. Head thrust back, it calls its brethren. Somewhere in the distance the call is echoed. Soon, beneath the blazing autumn moon, The pack will form. The hunt will begin. Silent through the night they will run. Forever wild, forever free, Forever as one. |
