A Poet's Dream

There was of late an interesting commentary
"only poets read poetry" as if so elementary
and this little tidbit filled within me glee
to think a real poet would read our poetry

for this, I know, would mean a poet's open heart
with opened eyes to take in words that we impart
a heaven-bound soul would feast thereupon
and lips to mouth the words that we've all drawn

feelings would raise, or lapse, or dwell
on the thoughts that lay soft upon the pale
or a wheel-chaired soul could take wing and fly
and dreamers thus dream of the sweet by and by

but beyond that, you must surely see
it's not just for poets, this endless poetry
it's for all who thus feel the draw
to relay in words the lives they saw

for where would our imagination be
without the loving art of heart sung poetry

Karilea, this is another of your perfectly penned and beautiful poems. Whatever you write is always full of your soul, which just goes to show how much of and angel you are.
Take care

I did say I love it didn't I? Because it goes without saying that I do.

What better way for a poet to get inspiration but from a piece about poets penned by one of the best poets there are.  Adding to library....on the shelf label "From Quill to Masterpiece"

Why Mark...now you've got me blushing again...

"'tis less than a poet's pen have I, than the true speak of my heart..."

although that is in "quotes", I have no idea if it was ever said...but something tells me it must have been...

and I thank you for reading...

..take your bow Sunshine..
to read a piece that captures my attention, taking my mind on a journey..brings me so much pleasure; why write when I like to travel!  Love it.   Marcy

Sunshine,

What a wonderful look at how other's perhaps view our work and the impact we could have on their lives.  Very well written!!
