The Awakening I never thought that I would dwell Within a garden made for smell. With plants of odors set in space Where flowers brooked but second place. The path was lined with tapping rail That read just like a book of braille The benches set in coves and rows To titillate the sensing nose. The taste of fragrance filled the breeze Some quite common and some did tease. And words did spill in touching pride At all the odors classified. A day my nose became my eyes With understanding as the prize. I shook each hand in loving kind That wondrous day among the blind. Now never more would I content Without the placement of a scent. |

Beautiful, thank you for the tour of the garden. Enjoy the beauty while we can see, but take in the smells while we can remember. |

Sy~ Loved this Our sense of smell the most powerful, we can smell something once and years later smell it again and the smell takes us back in time to the first time we smelled it. Our sense of smell can take us back to some most pleasant and desirable memories Beautiful piece Tracie~ Love is the life of the soul... It is the harmony of the universe |

Those who must live without the benefit of one of our senses know the importance of the "scents" in our lives...Just imagine a life without it... Nice one, SY.. |

Sy- I don't know if this place is real or not - but in my humble opinion it should be. Absolutely wonderful post and I applaude heartily. I live near Longwood Gardens and I am going to suggest they post braille signs appropriately with something like a radio direction finder that would work with earphones to help the blind find it without distracting the sighted. While it is true that the gardens are more of a joy to the sighted, the olifactory pleasures should not be ingored as they are even more treasured to the blind. ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |
