Private lover in the wind ravishing me in the night content in the afterglow but a stranger in the light where are you when I fall down? sobbing quietly as my heart pounds private lover where do you go? when the lights are no longer low when my fever is running high and my eyes are tired and weary no one to stroke my brow or share a cup of coffee no one to embrace me like magic you disappear private lover dont you recognize me? only in midnight clear when you want me I am always here but when stumped upon you are no longer near private lover where do you go? when the lights are no longer low In the light of the morn strolling through the park attacked by a rapist you only know me in the dark what am I to do? where are you now my love? reaching out for your hand my mouth covered by a glove trying to scream for help but you are no where in sight where is your strong hand? in the early morning light why am I a stranger? except in the dark of night A poem is never finished, only abandoned. - Paul Valery (1871-1945) |
