---Return, My Friend--- Oh little friend with wings of blue, I knew you first when I was two. Upon my shoulder you did sing. I always feared you'd soon take wing. But you stayed. You never flew. Soon I learned to trust in you. But when I wed, you flew away. I knew you would return one day. When Lindsay came, she brought you too. But after not so long, you flew. With a tear, each night I gasp, "Oh little friend beyond my grasp," "Come back to me and sing your song" "You've been away for far too long!" "Bring back my smile from days of yore." But quote the bluebird, "Nevermore !" Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?" |
