The heart holds dreams forever it seems, To have only a few come true. And most of these happen because of reaction To that which we say and do. It’s hard to conceive that many believe We needn’t fight to gain what is dear. How quickly it seems we let go of our dreams While clinging so tight to our fears. Excuses we make and risks we don’t take, Sometimes thinking our paths are “paved.” But in truth we are smitten, our histories written, By the choices that we’ve made. When the time comes and our “dream” is undone On the eve of our dismay, There is only regret when we pause to reflect That we allowed it to slip away. © Brandyn Sand 1/99 |

Brandyn* This is magnificent. It's a hard pill to swallow once we realize that it's not cruel fate or just bad luck that keeps us from our dreams but WE who keep us from reaching. You said it perfectly. Hold me for yesterday Kiss me for tomorrow But love me for today. |

Brandyn, this is a wonderful poem. I know a lot about letting dreams slip away... great job. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Relished the rhythm. And I believe we do create our lives. So I am thinking that creative owl, which flies all around this forum, has one big, beautiful life. Mind Control? Please tell me? |

~Brandyn You write with such a high level of poetic insight, my friend!! You have an awesome ability! This held such amazing truth...and you are so right, our only regret in life is when we allow our dreams to escape. Simply wonderful. take care, amy ![]() ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

Hi Brandyn Sand, This is so true, and sometimes I do regret waiting for something to happen, but I do try and learn from it. This is a keeper, thank you for sharing this and I have not seen you here before so welcome to passions. Cerenity |

I normally don't give two hoots and a holler for meter and rhymn (don't spread it around!) I look for the real expression, well this is fantastic on any grade!! It is wonderful, moving, flowing, and gives a whallop through every line. It is perfect just the way it is and tells it movingly. Kathleen [email protected] |
