WHY Who am I, Why am I here Sad and alone on creations’ sphere Life so empty, no purpose in sight Hoping to live to see the next autumns’ light This journey is so long, no end in sight Why should I continue, to exist one more night? For without purpose or reason life can never satisfy That empty, aching feeling which makes my soul cry What have I done to deserve this fate Have I upset you somehow or made you irate? Whatever my crime, please hear this plea My days are so short, of that I can see What do you want from this solitary man What can I give you that you don’t already have? It can’t be money or riches, of those I have few With tears in my eyes I ask for one clue I’m down on my knees and begging you please Just an answer, a sign or a voice in the breeze With so little time left I just have to know why I was placed in a world that can never satisfy Could it be my life, the way I’ve lived Excluding your presence and failing to give Honor and glory to your precious name What a fool I was, I feel such shame Why did I choose to live that way Was it vanity or pride, who’s to say Whatever the reason, it’s plain to see I never became the man you hoped I would be For me its too late, my candle has burned out No flicker or flame, the wick cast to the ground So I leave this world still sad and alone With an aching heart I wonder, will I ever get home? I will end this poem with one final plea To the God of creation who made heaven and seas Though as a man I failed to reach you’re heavenly goal Please have mercy on me when you judge my soul The end……. |

Excellent work (perhaps your purpose is writing). And I feel we all get home. |

Great rhythmetic poem. I agree with pen of passion - we learn in life through our own experiences both good and bad and sometimes we listen to others before we re-invent the wheel in our mistakes. ----and when we learn and we have a talent such as yours - we teach others what we know --- and hope they will listen --) netswan |

tincan5, Hey This is a good pem, it shows your sorrow, and your plea comes aross clearly, and as for asking God for mercy, when he judges your soul, well that question, is to be answerd on what you do down here.. make the right desicions.. take care now.. -Chico |

So many questions as we travel along this "journey" called life. Are there really any "true" answers? Who can ever be sure? Thank you to everyone who replied |

Tincan5 - I know you feel you may never find the answers to your "whys" sometimes "because" is the only answer..and that's ok as long as you know in your heart that you're doing your best in this world. I love your writing... ~Kelly Reflect upon your present blessings-of which every man has many-not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. ~Charles Dickens We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. ~Winston Churchill |

tincan~ I must also agree - very thought provoking and powerful poem. We all travel the journey of life, and only the journey itself knows where we are going till we get there. We just have to give the best of ourselves while we are making the trip! ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Woodson, Jr. |
