         The Empty Page

An empty page stares up at me expectantly:
A piece of ivory-colored parchment, upon which I shall inscribe my
soul.
Cradled gently in my right hand is my pen:
The magic wand, which will transform my feelings into words.
What will I create, as my heart guides my pen across the page?
Will it be a beautiful painting, on a par with Da Vinci;
Or, perhaps, a jumbled, formless finger-painting, such as I did in
kindergarten?
Will it be a lovely symphony, to rival Tchaikovsky;
Or, a nonsensical song, such as children often sing?
Whatever I fashion will be "just right;"
For, the beauty is in the creating.
To share with others the good and bad,
The joy and sorrow,
The darkness and light
That are in me - what could I possibly treasure more than this?
So, I shall continue to fill the pages,
And exhaust the ink of the pens,
And share my heart and soul,
For as long as life courses through my being.
Doing so makes my heart sing, and my spirit take flight.
And, if my writing stirs you...I am even happier.

Troy, you are on a roll here! Mucho truth in this one. We all start with that blank page, not knowing what's going to call it home. If we are happy with the result, that is a reward within itself. Approval from others is icing on the cake.....great thoughts.

Troy, your writing often stirs me...my mind, my heart, my imagination. I love your message here...the beauty is in the creation. Thank you for this.

I've gotten dizzy by your word-stirrings, and I loved it.

I love the way you string words together. It's hard to write when the muse is dead, but yours is alive and kickin' and livin' large! Love this post.

Balladeer - thanks so much for your kind comments!  I was commenting to a friend, the other day, that I think we poets have a real advantage.  Being able to express ourselves through poetry adds another wonderful dimension to our lives.

Claire - thank you, my friend!  I don't write free verse as often as I do rhyme...but sometimes the message presents itself better, that way.  I'm glad my poetry stirs you - I certainly love yours!

pen of passion - thanks!  Now that you're dizzy, let's slap a blindfold on you and play "blind man's bluff."

Jeffrey - thanks, buddy!  I love you, man!

Lone Wolf - thank you, my friend!  You always make me feel good!

WildChild - I appreciate your kind words!  Yes, the muse is alive and kickin'...but she is sometimes elusive, all the same.     As for "livin' large," she can't help it - I love to  eat, and she always joins me - so I'm a fat man with a fat muse, LOL!

Joanna - thanks a bunch for reading and commenting!  Welcome to Passions!

Again, thank you all for your wonderful responses!

Troy
