Take me to a dance...she pleaded. Hold me on the floor. Make me feel romance I'm lacking Like you did before. Hold your body next to mine And let's begin anew. Take me to a dance......but I said "Sorry - no can do." Take me on a cruise....she whispered. Let's go out to sea. Anywhere you choose I'll follow, Only you and me. Hold me in the moonlight as The stars come into view. Take me on a cruise....but I said "Sorry - no can do". My life had been a helter-skelter Energy was spent So much so I hadn't felt her Growing discontent. Then, by the time the truth had hit And I became aware That she had gotten tired of it.... She was no longer there. Come with me to dance....I plead now. Meet me on the floor. I have the romance you need now Stronger than before. Let's go on that cruise...I'm ready Sail the ocean blue. Give me one more chance....but she says "Sorry - no can do." Much too late I now discover One cannot ignore Little things that make a lover Know that she's adored. I had broken all the laws of Keeping our love true So I sit alone because of... Things I did not do.. |

You got that right, Balla"dear," the minute we take each other for granted, poof! For me, one of life's hardest lessons. Thanks for reminding us of how to live each day. Corinne |

My thanks to you all for your kind responses. I DO like pina coladas, by the way. Martie, forget it! Your husband builds crosses. I don't want one as a tombstone |

Unfortunately neglect cannot be undone. But, then, this is just a poem, right? And well done as always. Liz |

Balladeer~ Why you sweet sentimental thang ! I like this a whole bunch-a-lot ! They say 'if you dance you gotta pay the piper.' And if you don't dance ... the piper's gonna swipe her. Franni ... take this man dancing on a cruise ship. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I absolutely loved this poem. You are a wonderful writer. I think I will have to make sure that my man reads this one! Two men look through the same bars. One sees the mud, and one the stars.-? |

Liz...yep, just a poem James...and you do the same (as long as we're not talking about the same one! ) Marge..If a piper tried to pick her He would need a lot of liquor Cause to pick her from a poet Means he better be much slicker! Marilyn...I thank you, dear...and wonderful to see you again! Romantic Heart...hmmm..romantic heart and romantic devil. What a combination! Doreen...yep, I've been reading your mind and OH, YOU GIRL!!! Thank you. Your delight is my pleasure. WildChild...yes, but knowing and doing are two different things. I'll try...thank you. Suthern girl...of course you can dance! You just get too mad when somebody steps on your TOE! (great to see you again. Whereyoubeen?) Hoot..you have no idea how glad I am to see a post from you! Thank you for your words and for being back here with us. Butterflies..what a wonderful thing to say!! Unfortunately I am only Wise if you're referring to a potato chip! devina...LOL! Well, knowing and showing are two different things. After I wrote this poem, however, I did take down my sign which said "I love you. If this changes in the future you will be informed. Until that time, this statement shall remain valid and in force". Don't you think that was a good idea? Janet Marie....you are never too late. I would always save the last dance for you!! kristi..Thank you, friend. Yep, post it on the refrigerator. We need constant reminding, I'm afraid. |

Its sad, that we don't learn these lessons, young. Never enough focus put into caring for our partner our love. Its should be a major subject in school... the art of Love. Nice read, its a real wakeup call. Parker |

I always enjoy your writing ... so well done ... always packing a punch ... I too don't have the time and energy to reply to all that I read ... I find myself sacrificing sleep, just to write poems to post ... you're an amazing writer ... I don't think I miss much of anything you write, even if I don't reply to all, know that it's because I try to reply to those who have had very few replies ... |

What a wonderful and flowing poem! I've watched your writings from a'far Baladeer, and have only recently begun to comment and post. I must say ... I enjoyed this poem tremendously. Words to live by .. now if we could only "undo" and turn back time. Beautifully written! /Kit McCallum |

It is so important to continue to do all those little things that we did when we were first dating, at least once in awhile, to keep the romance alive. Great poem, as usual, Balladeer! Denise |
