I learned all my lessons the hard way, most of them I learned twice, I learned life don't always have happy endings ... and being a woman 'aint always sugar and spice. And I realized a long time ago ... no one wants you when your down, honest emotions and real pain are too much for most to handle ... so I learned to dress them up and to cry the tears of a clown. Keep them always guessing ... never let then know what's in store, always leave them laughing ... always leave them wanting more. Its like suffering in silence, only turned inside out, hide the pain with the laughter ... never let them see your fears or all the self doubt. Please don't misunderstand me, I love to make people smile, I need to bring others pleasure ... it makes me feel valuable and worthwhile. Still, its not easy...feeling my emotions so intensely...always so much, sometimes I wonder if its not more of a weakness ... sometimes it breaks me down, leaving me in need of an emotional crutch. You see, sometimes fate can be unkind, and the losses take their toll, sometimes the damage runs too deep ... and the scars leave their mark on a child's soul. I don't want anyone's pity ... no one feeling sorry for me, just try to simply understand ... and not judge ... and if you cant, then please just let me be. Still, I try to look on the bright side, and to wear the jesters crown, I try to look for the positive ... and I put most of my old demons on the last bus out of town. To be the most honest,Im afraid to let it all show, in the pain I might drown, So I hide the emotions in the laughter ... and I laugh till I cry ... and I cry the tears of a clown. Janet marie 4/17/00 thanks for the inspiration Gen... I needed a good distraction this afternoon. *S* "people say I'm the life of the party... cause I tell a joke or two, though I might be laughing loud and hearty... deep inside Im blue... so take a good look at my face... you'll see my smile looks out of place, and if you closer its easy to trace ... the tracks of my tears." Love it doll! I'm not all that good at crying tears of a clown.. my heart's always had a place on my sleeve. "The storm rises up when the shadows descend every beat of my heart every day without end I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break till theres no more to give if thats what it takes I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed I will lay down my life if thats what you need every second I live thats the promise I make" I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =) |

ROFLMAO - at mine kicking yours' ass! You are so funny! I'm almost done, keep your pantyhose on - sheesh! I'm stumped.... Worked on it last night, but got distracted. LOL Hey, I liked this line of yours..."No one wants you when you're down"...isn't that the truth? I know for a fact that's true, because even I like to be around *happy* people far better than depressing ones! I've thought it out too, and I know why. Laughter is like honey...sweet. Everyone has so many problems nowadays...we flock to happiness in droves...therefore, happy people are the ones we enjoy most, as they make us forget our troubles, even if for just a moment. I try to spread a little of that honey every day. Cause I know how therapeutic it is for me too! Love you girl! Loved your poem too! Mine won't kick your ass, I promise! |

Wow. This one is so good and so so true. I know clown tears....trying to hide how you really feel. This one really hit home with me. Thanks for sharing!! Love and hugs, Lizzie "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." |

JM~ touching words and I know how you feel always a smile on your face even when you're feeling down. The one thing I hate is when you do finally break and the smile fades it's like you said "no one wants you when your down" you're the one that always listens and puts a smile on their face but when you need it they don't want to listen because they need you to be happy for them. Well all I can say is "keep on smiling" and maybe your clown face will be replaced with the real thing Hugs Tracie~ Love is the life of the soul... It is the harmony of the universe |

Well, this was a nice surprise to come and find this one here today, THANK YOU LIZZIE... this was a little challenge Gen put me up to a ways back, as her and I often use our sense of humor to help get thru the rough spots... I know many others do the same, tracie and Butterfly...thank you to for the sweet words of understanding, somehow I knew you all could relate *smile* later kind-poet-gators jm There are places inside our souls ... that have never been touched. There are places inside our hearts ... that need to be loved this much. ~Janet Marie~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... Janet this is one of my favorite pieces by you. unfortunately i could relate to it so well. we feel emotions so deep but to the rest of the world we have to put up this facade. i think i will try later to write something along these lines. again, wonderful poem! love ya your amy-girl "Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is before you can meet again. And meeting again after a moment or a lifetime is certain for those who are friends." |
