He's only six years old, He just lost his mother. Why can't everyone leave him alone, Why can't everyone stop the bother. He's touched every heart, His sweet innocent smile. They're tearing him apart, Please leave him alone for a while. Is Elian going to stay? Is Elian going to go? Nobody knows up to this day, Everybody needs to know. My prayers are with him, God bless his little soul. He's such a strong little boy, He's only a boy. It's almost over Elian, Whatever your destination will be You've touched our hearts, The funny part is that you don't even know me. miriam coronado |

thanks netswan...his story really captivated me...if you really think about it...everyone is treating him like a rag doll...it really hurts me...i have nine nieces and nephews and just the thought of that happening to one of them kills me. miriam coronado |

miriam, very nice poem for the boy. I wrote one back in January when all this mess began called "Elian's Promise". The last verse referring to freedom and written from his mothers perspective went like this: A dream come true in a pecial and where a Torch of Freedom extends a hand remember me, and the reason to come my sacrifice worthy, for my beloved son Enjoyed your poem! dh |

This is wonderful! I too, see his face on the papers, and wonder who in the world thinks they have a right to keep him here away from his father, when he's already lost a mother?? I know family is trying to look out for his best interest, as far as being in the states, and having a better "quality" of life...But what is life without your mother and father?? Who cares about quality when you have to go to sleep every night, crying for the family you lost - to gain material opportunites? Has anyone asked him if he's willing to swap the two? Does anyone care that the father has rights too, and not only has lost his wife, but his son? It's a shame...sometimes, we are TOO helpful, in my opinion. Thank you Miriam for sharing this, and I'm so glad to see you posting!! It's about time! |

one thing we need to keep straight here Femme. the boy only lived with his father the first couple years of his life, after that he never saw him again...the father has another wife and children. The way i feel is that the mother made a sacrifice to bring her child into a world of freedom...a sacrifice that took her life away. the father is only taking the actions he is because (i feel this way) he has Fidel Castro on his side..and i personally feel that he's making this a political issue instead out of the love of his child...if he really wanted the best for his kid...don't you think he would step in and not let the last act of violence happen? Why didn't he stop to think that at his little boy's age...having a machine gun pointed at his little head would be a traumatizing experience? I don't know...that's just the way i feel about all this...now if you excuse me..i have to watch the spanish channel where they are going to pass a special edition on this little boy's misery. miriam coronado |
