Those tired, throbbing, sandaled feet
Trudged many miles in desert heat;
The Man of Sorrows tread for me
Those dusty roads of Galilee.

Those helping healing hands would find
The piercing pain of humankind;
That humble head bent oft in prayer
Would feel a thorny crown placed there.

Those shoulders broad would bear the weight
Of all the world’s sick sin and hate;
The Man of Sorrows prayed for me
Intensely in Gethsemene.

Great drops as blood fell from the brow
Fell from the One who would endow
Me with the best that He could give
He gave His all that I could live.

He stretched His arms out on a cross
To cleanse me of my filth, my dross;
The Man of Sorrows bled for me
The sacrifice to set me free.

The Lamb of God was slain for me
To give me life eternally
He rose again, did death defeat
Because He lives, I'm now complete.

I wish you all a happy, blessed Easter!

Denise

Denise~
This is one of the prettiest Easter poems I've ever read.
I hope you've submitted it to the main site.
It carries such a message of just what He gave FOR us and gave TO us.

Thank you so very much for sharing
this message of inspiration.
Love ya'

Denise I recall the title of this, but reading it was like brand new. I don't remember it. Funny isn't it? I love it anyhow! Great work my friend! HUGS

I made a few changes in this to smooth out the meter in a couple of spots. It had been quite awhile since I had read this and upon re-reading it I saw a couple of rough spots.
Does this seem smoother now?

Yes, it flows smoothly. You know, sometimes it's hard for me to think of the pain Jesus endured and His death for us without getting tears in my eyes. Thank you for this gem.
