I can not stand the feeling I feel.
I can not stand the way I act.
I can not stand this pain of loss,
    to lose something I still have a hold on.

To watch it fade away,
    ever slipping out of my grip.

Never to be as we were,
    never to feel as we felt,
    never to achieve the dreams I had.
Slowly trying to forget the way things were,
     trying to bury the way I felt.

Tears stream down my face as I remember the past.
Not knowing what could have been,
    but knowing I wish I could have been there.
But you carry on,
    with walls coming between us.
Soon you will forget me
    and I will be nothing more
         than I ever was before
Just a blur in the background.

I know I should not try to hang on,
     but I don't want to give up,
     or see you go.
To lose something your attached to,
     to lose something you care about,
     to lose something you love.

I watch as you walk away,
    I watch as you fade into the crowd.
I watch as we grow apart,
    and I also watch as you forget.

Never feeling the same,
or subjecting myself to the pain.
Bitter and aloneI watch the crowd,
    wandering what is to come next.

With my last breath I wonder,
    "Will things ever be the same?"
But no I still sit here,
watching you walk away.

Everything starting to fade to gray.

I see you so clearly in my mind,
but I know all you see
is just a blur in the background.
