BLISS Year and years I've ridden the wave. Darkness enveloping me, senses reeling, yielding to the formidable mist surrounding me, oblivious the poisons seeping through this skin, permeable and permissive, if dead... Flesh itself, crawling, writhing, aching for relief of dried hope pent in marrowless bones mindless the simple desire to once more be dust! Michael Anderson |

Hmmmm you and me seem to have quite a different interpretation of the definition of Bliss dear M,... this poems aches in places most people dont know they have. me thinks they are the lucky ones. me wonders about this poem too ... but then you already knew that. take care M, jm I think I could need - this in my life I think I'm just scared - that I know too much I can't relate and that's a problem I'm feeling ... If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home There's an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you're gone - baby you need to come home cuz there's a little bit of something me... In everything in you. ~MB20~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... The world calls a butterfly" ~Lao Tze Tao~ ~Butterflies are meant to be free~ |

I remember a song from Metallica here... called "One"...hase a verse that goes Darkness Imprisoning Me All That I See Absolute Horror I Cannot Live I Cannot Die Trapped in Myself Body My Holding Cell ... Bliss will bring about the end of darkness by conjoining body with dust...He rose from dust...and joined back again.... So metaphoric and even more symbolic, in the way you write... Nice poem, powerful feelings. Thanks for sharing, Regards and take care, Sudhir. My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself, Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight, Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night, Still there are the questions, no answers in sight Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight, Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor, Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door... You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange ~ Strange ~ Joe Satriani (Flying in a Blue Dream) |

Perhaps Bliss is truly dust, for in that dejected state, we can be reborn into a newness of life, when we feel like we are dying. I understood this, I believe. Kathleen "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace." Elizabeth Barrett Browning |

It occurred to me as I read this that often life can seem a graver curse than any fear of death. Isn't it odd how persons who claim to have had a "near-death experience," no matter how miserable or wonderful their individual lives may have been, most often have one thing in common? They don't want to come back. Something to think on, no? Eloquent purging, dear. ![]() --Me YOUR LIFE IS A TEST It is only a test ... Corinne, an accute perception - I definately would have to agree. Janet, I imagine there are as many different interpretations of the word "bliss" as their are people interpreting it. Some say "ignorance is bliss" - and for the most part, I would have to agree with them...LOL Your reply kind of falls in line with that - "this poems aches in places most people dont know they have"... But where does bliss lie for those that do know? Amy, all is O.K. with me, really... I think... ![]() Eric, Yes, the end of all pain would seem bliss, indeed, for some. Again, no worries, I have no plans on achieving it in this manner. ![]() Jeffrey, will do. Nan, always a welcome warmth, too. Sudhir, you see what many do not when you read... that is good, methinks. Irish Rose, that you see "hope" in this poem makes me truly happy. There is a newness of life that can only be achieved opposite of that which is killing us - so to speak. We have to acknowledge what is killing us first, however. Something not many are willing to do. Kess, I would have to agree with your comment - "life can seem a graver curse than any fear of death" - "seem" being the key word in there. And though I am probably guilty of living most of my life by that assumption, (even as I do not fear death), I can say to you today, truly, it is merely an assumption. Life is what we make it, my dear. Someone very special taught me that just recently. ![]() Thank you all for the kind replies, Michael [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 06-09-2000).] |
