It Takes Dawn

Sleep comes readily,
Body falling to fatigue,
Folding into velvet night.

Dreams play easily,
‘Til the clock strikes four,
Rounding a downtown corner,

The sky lightens visibly,
Birds signaling predawn,
Streets awash in dream rain.

Three balls juggling,
Before the eyes, dazzling,
Perilous their display,

Triple faces of fear:
Failure, dismay, isolation
Circling, a hostile dance,

Sapping restoration,
All muscles tightening,
Echoing life like a knife.

‘Tis the darkest then,
Awake and trembling,
When we are most lost.

It takes the dawn
To bring deep sleep,
Safe keeping in morn.

Echoing life like a knife.

I know what these restless nights  are like,
morning can be a mixture of a blessing and a curse. a great poem, dark yet dreamy.

This is flowing surreal poetry from you Corinne, amazing talent you have got. Thanks for posting this one...

Regards, sudhir.

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....

Corinne, this style seemed a little different for you, but as always done very well.
Sometimes we have to wait out the night, the warmth of the rising sun, is an ancient comfort. The darkness always passes...
I hope you had a wonderful morning.

Corinne~
Been there .... many times the comfort
of the dawn brings the deepest slumber.
Kind of like that time between the first
alarm and the second one ! Sweet slumber.

Thank you for your kind words, Parker. It will pass, I get insomnia every so often, it usually lasts several weeks then leaves.

Thank you, too Marge and Danny.  Yes, Marge, it feels safer to sleep at dawn, when I imagine most serial killers are just going to bed!

What an imagination, eh?
