In a world where Self Love is blindly sought
We’ve failed to see it can’t be earned or bought

In the search, something important has been lost
There is in fact a forgotten cost

Self love does not mean you put your self above
There are others that need our selfless love

Share it with those around you and those you know not
The Golden Rules you can’t claim to have forgot

In order to find love of yourself, love others first
Then you’ll receive the gift of Self Love you thirst

Small gifts, kind words, a simple hug are all practically free
The littlest things can be priceless, give and you will see

Hold onto others and be placed in their shoes
You have no option but to let go of your blues

So search for ways to share your kindness
And you’ll not be lost in Self Love Blindness

Truly a beautiful poem and a lesson everyone should learn.  You cannot truly love others without having some of that love come back to you.  Great Job.

Thank you for reading   I wrote this after a "discussion"...lol with someone, we were discussing whether you needed to have self love before you could love another or vice versa....for me, if I am thinking of others first I can't dwell on my problems, I'm not saying give up your own happiness for someone else....just share with someone and ...yes like you said T.A. it can't help but come back to you   Thank you!

Well written! A wise poem indeed.  It's something I wish for everyone because it's true, in order to love others we must first love ourselves.  Thanks for sharing this gem!

Lead through example.
This poem is a perfect example of the self love you speak of.

Butterfly;
Absolutely breathtaking. So much truth and wisdom in your thoughts. So many people hurting it makes our own big problems seem like pebbles. I loved this poem.   Marcy

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

Danny* Thank you as always for your kind words and for reading.

Chirstopher*  We both seem to know that our age doesn't measure what we've lived and more importantly what we have learned along the way...good thing!! I never imagined you as one to take the "safe" way though....    Thank you for reading.

Giving to others certainly does do so much for our own soul.  I am willing to bet that's how you live your life.  I guess that's why you're able to give so much here at Passions - you are definitely in touch with yourself - lucky for us!  Love this one too, Butterfly - like all the others.
