Hi all, < !signature-->Provoked by Karilea's (sunshine) challenge and inspired by Pink Floyd, I chose an epic 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' to pen this piece. Picked up the word "Shine" and sought out these synonyms: lustre, excel, glow, polish, sheen, sparkle, radiance, flame, blaze, gloss, gleam, flash, shimmer, twinkle, flicker, light, luminosity... Then I decided to make most of this piece of education. Now it is up to all of you to decide and judge whether I have made the most of the words...I hope so...Suggestions are welcome... To a better tomorrow --------------------------- Moonlit shadows on the side street, Distant light, a lustrous shine, Glimpse, I took from the corner of my eye, I greet, A sparkle from a faraway star so divine A slight breeze, my hopes soar high, A diamond blinks with a serene glow, I spot the flash, from wilderness, streams of life flow, Conjoining into a rivulet, I give out a sigh. I chose to excel, towards polished glories that galore, Rhyming sentiments, gracious gleam, Success is an option, winning theme gained substance even more, Sheen of surreal celestial beauty, it may seem. A caper that I wished to undertake, To get myself on a roll, for victory's sake, Looked at a spider hanging from the neon gloss, A rolling stone never gathered any moss. It hurts to lose, but never does to try, The twinkle from the star did light A flicker in my heart, I must learn to fly, Luminous thoughts desired to delight. The view changed because of a passing cloud, As I gazed uncertainly at the radiance of the ray, Hidden, eclipsed by a mere blob, a shroud, 'Is this all that it takes to create a doubt', I say. A breeze later took the blob away, Insecurity that raged, in my head, disappeared, The flame from billions light years away, Saw a shimmering light, more hopes reappeared. The flash from the distant star, a single ray Now flashed in my radiant eyes, Dark shadows that loomed gave way, I was now ready to put a blazing flame on the ice. Towards better days, Cheers! -------------------- Hey you, out there in the cold, Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the aisle, With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me? Hey you, don't help them to bury the light. Don't give in without a fight. Hey you, out there on your own, Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me? Hey you, with your ear against the wall, Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me? Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone? Open your heart, I'm coming home.... by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) - The Wall [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 06-06-2000).] |

Well I for one think that you used those words to their fullest extent. A slight breeze, my hopes soar high, A diamond blinks with a serene glow, I spot the flash, from wilderness, streams of life flow, Conjoining into a rivulet, I give out a sigh. The flash from the distant star, a single ray Now flashed in my radiant eyes, Dark shadows that loomed gave way, I was now ready to put a blazing flame on the ice. Beautiful magically and wonderful. loved this poem esplecially the line I was now ready to put a blazing flame on the ice. ------------------------ "I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else"-Richey Edwards "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time". Baltimore Grotto "Libraries gave us power Then work came and made us free What price now for a shallow piece of dignity" Nicky Wire, A design for Life. manic street preachers "Rock 'n' roll is our epiphany Culture, alienation, boredom and despair" "To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." E.E Cummings. |

Brian, I am glad that you liked this one and thank you for reading and selecting what is also my best line from the poem.... a nice ending, I say to myself... Thanks again. Karilea, Thanks for your beautiful words, but me still thinks that a flash in the pan cannot replace the bright dazzling sunshine... Thanks once again.
