State of constant confusion!

This is my favorite poem because it makes me look back and remember a very special person. Even though He is gone, we will always be together, for He will always be in my heart.
Jan, I thank for this challenge.

When And Where  (in memory of a friend)

As I sit here on the shore
and watch the waves roll in
It brings back the memories
of when and where again

I can see your deep blue eyes
upon the cresent moon
and all I can think about
is that sunlit afternoon

Back when we were only kids
who thought we knew it all
Always running head on in life
Never afraid to take a fall

I can't believe just how naive
we really were back then
Thinking we could conquer the world
when we were merely men

We failed to see all the stop signs
life threw up along the way
'Til you were abruptly taken from me
on that fateful day

I wish that I could rub a lamp
and bring you back again
As I sit here thinking of a time
of when and where again

*******************************

In loving memory of
Robert Christopher Beaver
02/18/70-06/24/92

I shall never forget you my friend.

 All my love,
Jeffrey

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

I'm sure that Jan and Gen remember the story behind this poem, but for those who don't, here it is

Chris was my best friend. We grew up together. He was killed in a car accident in which I was the driver. It took me almost eight years to finally be able to put these words to paper, and then only after visiting his grave for the first time since his funeral. As I was kneeling there crying, and asking his foregiveness, I felt this incredible feeling of absolute peace come over me. I knew at that moment that Chris was there with me. (I know this may sound strange, but it DID happen)
I knew he was sending me a message, He had foregiven me. He had all along, I think.

Thank you all for your heartfelt replies,
I really appreciate them.

 All my love,
Jeffrey

Hi Jeff
Friends are forever and its a heartfelt message to everyone of us. I have a friend who makes me feel the same way. He's a great person in mind and heart. I have abused him in so many ways but his kindness always reigned supreme. I adore him and respect him and we're very close friends now.

Sincerely

Jeffrey,

What a lovely touching tribute to your friend.  I am glad that you were forgiven and have come to terms with things, my friend.  I think this is one of my favorites of yours.  Great writing!!

I just wanted to say.....

The next time we all see our best friend, be it our spouse, our mom, or even our pet, should take the time to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated. We are not promised a tomorrow on this earth. That is a lesson I learned the hard way.

Love to you all

Jeffrey
