My nephew, Todd, and his fiancee, Kim, asked me to write and read a poem for their wedding. He plays guitar in a band and she is the singer. Here is their wedding poem "God Bless Their Love" Todd and Kimberly Scheffey September 9, 2000 One day he met a meadow lark And saw upon her face A special glow and beauty That his heart would soon embrace He felt her spirit drawing near To essence of his own Her song was more melodious Than any he had known One day the voice of meadow lark Poured out from morning mist It raptured his most inner self And filled his heart with bliss And from that day her lovely songs Around his soul abound He said you came into my world And turned my life around For never did such succulence Exude from lyric word Never has a sweeter song Been sung by beauteous bird Never have such dulcet tunes Danced through the willow tree Never had a meadow lark Sung songs for only me He strummed his love in wondrous chords Upon his sweet guitar And thus his music captured Every string within her heart They then began to play their songs In perfect harmony It raptured her most inner self With unknown ecstasy It was a deep and perfect love A treasure she had found She said you came into my world And turned my life around For never did the Milky Way Descend from skies above To blanket me entirely With canopies of love Never had I drifted soft In heavens sparkling sea Nothing is more wondrous Than the song you played for me So taken was he by her words To meadow lark he vowed To challenge any weakness That a youthful mind allowed And so with grace and honor and This beauty by his side He proved his strength of character And courage from inside Through lovely little meadow lark His spirit had been found He said you came into my world And turned my life around The meadow lark then answered It is I who have been blessed With mountain springs of pure true love To drown my loneliness You’ve given purpose to my songs And rhythm to my soul You are the sun upon my face The other half my whole For I had not been living Til this one true love I found She said you came into my world And turned my life around And so today we witness Sacred joining of the two As Todd and Kim make promises And start their lives anew May happiness and peace and love Forever more abound From this day forth they take their vows And turn their lives around Forever will their essence drift Upon life’s subtle breeze Forever will their spirit dance Through graceful willow trees Forever will their music float From out the morning mist And light upon the lily’s petal Waiting to be kissed God bless their life, God bless their love God grant them joy and peace May Todd and Kim find happiness In life’s sweet melodies Elizabeth Santos |

Wow, Liz! I am impressed by every word of this, as I am sure Todd and Kim will be. Give them my blessings! Elizabeth And this I say to you: why? Why? Just tell me why, so I can understand. Why? |

Breathtaking, beautiful, unqiue and perfect! You have such an amazing talent. I am postive that they will both love this poem and cry at their wedding when you read it. You have such a way with words. Applause! It is perfect, don't change a word! Take care, Melissa Honeybee |

Can... I maybe put in my request for sept. 9th. We have one but it wasn't really as Christian a we had hoped for. This is very nicely done. [oh... maybe I shouldn't tell but it's RJ's birthday too.] < !signature--> If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. Liz, this is the first poem of yours that I read. I'm sitting here trying to type through tears and sighs. I loved it from begining to end. Thank you for sharing it with us. miriam coronado |
