No earthly bond was stronger
No earthly love as true
No, nothing in this world compares
To the love we received from you.

The days drag on much longer
Than they ever used to do
No, nothing in this world we want
We want only to be with you.

'Though some care only for what they can gain
In this life that is fading, it’s true
We know that you knew in your heart, dear Dad
All we ever wanted was you.

And the world can take nothing from us
That really matters at all, oh, how true
For no one could ever take the best
The love we received from you.

One fine day we will shed this pain
When we leave this world so blue
There’ll be no more grief and no more tears
For we’ll be home with you.

Until that day shines bright upon us
There’s really nothing else we can do
But to share with those around us
The love we received from you.

Sleep in peace ‘till we’re together again
…Us and Mom and You.

In Memory of Dad, Francis B. Corbley, 1/23/25 - 1/13/98

6/98

beautiful Denise and so very touching...
and how wonderful the gift of poetry was discovered in you through your need to express your love for your father...
very special gift indeed
take care, jm

Beautifully written and with an earthly wisdom so often ignored.
Wonderful tribute to your father.  May I speak you words to my father in a prayer?
Mine was a loving father as well and sorely missed each day.

I see that, right from the start, you wrote by inserting a great deal of feeling in your poetry......and you continue to do so. Very, very nice, Denise.

Denise, this truly wonderful.  You made me think back to when my Dad passed in 97.  It is beautiful!  What an excellent first poem.
